We are thrilled to announce our newest member, Miss Shea Lauren!
Well, it's official, the Rhythm Rockets are excited to introduce our newest member, Miss Shea Lauren as our vocalist! Perhaps you may have seen her sitting in with the band at the Fitzgerald's Patio, Club Arcada or one the outdoor events we have done? She has been around our brand of Jazz, Rhythm & Blues all her life... that's because she is my daughter!
Her interest in music, and being on stage performing, came very early for her. Miss Shea spent years performing in various musicals and productions with a local youth theater group, as well as her middle school and her high school. She began attending a youth Blues jam her freshman year and was the only vocalist who showed up, which meant plenty of stage time. For the past couple of years, Shea would sit in with the band belting out a few Etta James tunes as well as singing her Great Grandmother's original song written in the 1930's.
In 2025, Shea performed with the Rhythm Rockets at the Bloom Township High Schools' Arts Week to 2 packed auditoriums. The students ate it up! Some brave young gentlemen even handed her their phone numbers. In December, Shea had to fill in last minute for our ailing vocalist at Club Arcada. She knocked it out of the park that night, in spite of being given less that 24 hour notice.
The band and myself are truly excited for this new era of the Rhythm Rockets. The close of 2026 will bring our 30th anniversary of performing Old School Jazz, Rhythm & Blues in the Chicagoland area and beyond. Miss Shea will begin the next era for the Rockets, with the new era comes some new tunes by Ruth Brown, Sharon Jones, Collins Kids, Annisteen Allen and even Ann Margret! Miss Shea has brought these new tunes into the Rocket repertoire with a fresh perspective and energy.
We do hope you make plans to see Miss Shea's debut at Club Arcada on Saturday May 30th, if not, catch us at one of the free outdoor concerts schedule for the Summer.
See you soon!
Dave
